Let yourself be taken on a journey deep into the ancient soul of Rome. Here, the heavenly beauty of the Sistine Chapel awaits, the mighty splendor of St. Peter's Basilica, and the sparkling promise of return of the Trevi Fountain. We also travel to the city of Tivoli, where the dance of a hundred fountains and the gardens of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa d'Este tell tales of bygone times. In the Sabine Mountains, we taste olive oil, a golden gift from ancient trees, among the oldest in Europe. Experience a symphony of art, history, and the poetry of nature, in the heart of Italy.

Travel program

01

Dag 1 – Benvenuti!

We land in Rome in the early afternoon and travel directly to our hotel, which is located close to popular neighborhoods. We take a first guided walk to iconic sites such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the glamorous Spanish Steps. On the way we are served a typical Italian coffee: affogato al caffé - where ice cream and coffee marry in the perfect "dolce vita" taste at Rome's perhaps most famous gelateria.

A typical Italian dinner is served with a glass of wine in a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.

Dinner is included.

02

Day 2 – Michelangelo's Treasures

Vatican City and Basilica San Pietro are not only the spiritual center of the Catholic religion on Earth, but also a priceless collection of the most admired masterpieces of art. Michelangelo's sculpture Pietá, the Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes and Bernini's baldacchino are just a few of the jewels of the Renaissance and Baroque.

Our guide gives an interesting, condensed lecture about the history, art and everyday life around St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican, hands out the entrance tickets to the Vatican Museums and then lets us experience the museum and the church at our own pace.

Breakfast is included.

03

Day 3 – The Eternal City

Today it's time to delve into the everyday life of antiquity: we find out how and where Julius Caesar was assassinated, we walk past the mighty Foro Traiano and understand the big picture of the expansion of the Roman Empire, and we make a photo stop in front of the Colosseum.

The afternoon is free for your own wanderings, as Rome has a fantastic range of different experiences, and a few hours of free time is always appreciated here.

Breakfast is included.

04

Day 4 – Olive Oil & Tivoli

We take an exciting and tasty excursion to the Sabine Mountains north of Rome, where we visit an olive grove, try to embrace perhaps Europe's oldest olive tree "Olivone", taste olive oil and are served a traditional light lunch.

We then travel to the town of Tivoli, where we visit the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site Villa d'Este with its stunning gardens. A farewell dinner is served at a restaurant with historical connections. We return to our hotel in Rome in the evening.

Breakfast and dinner are included.

05

Dag 5 – Goodbye Rome!

After a good breakfast and perhaps one last walk near our hotel, we leave this overwhelming capital, with the hope that the coins we threw into the Trevi Fountain will bring us back here soon.

Goodbye, eternal city! And thank you very much!Frukost ingår.
