Join us on an unforgettable journey through Portugal, where sun-kissed beaches meet historic cities and culinary adventures await around every corner. We explore Lisbon, a city with seven hills, rich history and a vibrant nightlife. The dramatic coastline beckons with its cliffs and charming fishing villages. We experience the westernmost point of the continent, and from the bus we see the coast with azure blue waters. Join us on an adventure filled with culture, nature and Portuguese hospitality! Port wine, fresh fish, fado and “saudade” are our watchwords on this trip.
We land in Porto in the afternoon and are welcomed at the hotel with a tasty buffet. Our guide goes through tomorrow's program and gives us tips for the coming days, over a glass of local wine.
Dinner is included.
We start the day with a guided tour of the charming city of Porto. Our knowledgeable tour leader and our local guide will reveal exciting gems about the history and present of the country and the city. Afterwards, there will be free time for lunch, your own cultural activities and shopping. We gather again for a tour of a port wine cellar dating back to 1790, where we will of course get to taste 2 different port wines. We continue with a short cruise on the Douro River, under the city's 6 bridges.
Breakfast and dinner are included.
We leave Porto after breakfast and head south. The coastal road down to Estoril, where we will spend the next 3 nights, offers fantastic landscapes and idyllic views through small villages with windmills, dramatic cliffs and silvery beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.
We stop for lunch in the beautiful fishing town of Nazaré. In the afternoon we check into a comfortable hotel in the charming coastal town of Estoril. The hotel is located close to the beach, which can provide the opportunity for a lovely evening swim if the weather permits. Dinner is served at the hotel.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Today we take a spectacular excursion to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Here on this dramatic cape it feels like the Sintra Mountains fall directly into the Atlantic. Right up on the same mountain is the Pena National Palace, a unique building that fuses several architectural styles, including neo-Gothic, neo-Islamic and neo-Renaissance, which we visit together. We also visit the small town of Sintra. After an day full of exciting experiences, dinner is served at the hotel.
Breakfast and dinner are included.
We round off our Portugal trip with a full day in the majestic and colorful capital city of Lisbon. The day begins with a guided tour, then there is free time for lunch on your own and individual excursions.
We regroup in the early evening and walk to the dinner restaurant where we are served a 3-course dinner to the sounds of traditional Portuguese Fado music. In the evening, our bus takes us back to the hotel in Estoril.
Breakfast and dinner are included.
