Vienna and Bratislava, two gems along the mighty Danube, both have a rich history shaped by the Habsburg Empire. The cities exude elegance and culture, with impressive architecture, magnificent palaces and a shared love of music and art. But here history takes a different turn. Vienna, which for centuries was the heart of a powerful empire, continued to develop as a democratic capital. Bratislava, on the other hand, fell under Soviet influence after World War II, which left a different mark on the city.
