Experience the dramatic Scottish landscape, where mighty mountain peaks called "bens" meet deep "lochs" and rugged coastlines. The wild beauty of Scotland's north-east coast merges with the majestic castles of the west coast, bagpipes, whisky, the Highland idyll and the mystique of Loch Ness. During a comprehensive and eventful journey, we collect memories for life in charming Edinburgh, admire the fascinating coastal landscape of Aberdeenshire, visit royal Glamis Castle, and snuggle among Highland cattle and sheepdogs. A visit to a whisky distillery literally gives us a taste of the real Scotland. Perth, Loch Ness and the Glenfinnan Viaduct are also highlights of the trip.

Travel program

01

Day 1 – Hiya!

Arrival in Edinburgh in the afternoon, with a direct flight from Arlanda. Check-in at a central hotel in Edinburgh full of character. Our tour guide welcomes us with a drink in the lobby and gives a short and exciting introduction to Scotland's culture and history: a list of fun "did you know that..." facts that open a new perspective on this mythical area.

Dinner is included.

02

Day 2 – Edinburgh History

In the morning we take a guided walk in Edinburgh. We visit St. Giles Cathedral, the legendary dog statue "Greyfriar's Bobby" and pass by the Scott Monument, along the Royal Mile and down to photogenic Victoria Street. Free time for lunch and your own museum visits or walks in, for example, idyllic Dean Village. Dinner on your own.

Breakfast is included.

03

Day 3 – Scottish Castles

We leave the Scottish capital, passing Leith and the ship Britannia, and stop on our way north in Perth for a short walk, passing the Black Tower and Scone Palace. We visit the royal Glamis Castle and have a soup lunch here. We travel through Aberdeen and we arrive at our hotel in Cruden Bay on the beautiful east coast.

Depending on the tide, we take a short walk on the beach either this or the next day, with a knowledgeable local guide. We check into a hotel with local charm, famous for having had the author of the novel Dracula, Bram Stoker, as a guest in the late 19th century. Dinner is served at the hotel.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

04

Episode 4 – Culloden “moo”

We start the day with an easy hike to the ruins of Slain Castle, which inspired author Bram Stoker when he wrote the novel Dracula, and we pass by the lovely white sand beach near the harbor. Then we head towards the west coast.

Lunch can be served at the café at Culloden, a place marked by the dramatic history of the Jacobites. Here we can also meet cozy "highland coos", the iconic Scottish cows with their rich fur. In the evening we check into a cozy hotel in a historic building, near Inverness, where a typical Scottish dinner is served to the sounds of "ceilidh" music, so that the evening can be rounded off with a glass of whiskey.

Breakfast and dinner are included.

05

Day 5 – Inverness, kilts & shopping

After breakfast we visit a kilt manufacturing facility to learn more about the tartan tradition. After a visit to Inverness Castle's new experience center, and a short guided walk in the city, we have free time for shopping and lunch on our own. Dinner can also be enjoyed on our own at one of the local pubs with live music.

Breakfast is included.

06

Day 6 – Viaducts & whiskey

Excursion to the picturesque Glenfinnan Viaduct, where we can spot the famous Harry Potter steam train. We admire the mighty Ben Nevis, Scotland's highest mountain peak. There is free time for your own walks and dinner on your own in Fort William, after which we visit an interesting distillery where we taste 2 types of whisky.

Breakfast and dinner are included.

07

Day 7 – Oban, the gateway to the islands

We visit the cozy port town of Oban, with its colorful houses and its interesting Colosseum-like city symbol. This is the "gateway to the islands". From here you can take a boat trip to the Isle of Mull on your own.

We round off with a tasty farewell dinner, where we gather around the fireplace a Burns song or two.

Breakfast and dinner are included.

08

Day 8 – Kelpies & nature

On the way to the airport we say goodbye to Scotland's amazing nature and culture. We stop nearby Stirling Castle for lunch, and later we make a photo stop at the Kelpies, the world's largest horse sculpture, before our flight.
