Experience Transylvania's story began in 2011, with a fairytale wedding in Transylvania, Romania. We are a family business headquartered in Sweden, and we also have a branch in Romania, as well as partners and customers worldwide.
In the beginning, we focused on organizing trips to Romania, mainly for Swedish travelers with an appetite for meaningful cultural experiences. We soon discovered that travelers from other countries also wanted to join our exciting groups. During our trips, new friendships were forged without borders, and memories for life were created.
Over the years, we have developed more destinations within Europe, at the request of our customers, who, after a first trip with us, wanted to come back and join us on new adventures. Our tour producers' previous experience as guides and cruise leaders laid the foundation for new, fantastic trips to wonderful places beyond Transylvania. Nowadays, we also organize trips to Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, and these are just some of our new exciting destinations.
Our team of tour guides is experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about providing excellent service. We endeavor to create itineraries that we ourselves would be eager to embark on. We carefully select hotels, activities, and restaurants that we would personally want to experience.
We value authentic travel, seeking to immerse ourselves in the real local culture, going beyond superficial impressions.
Join us on an unforgettable journey!
Our travel philosophy
We believe in authentic experiences that protect nature, empower local people, and preserve cultural heritage and history. Read more about our commitment to travel with a good purpose!
To truly get to know the everyday life of a people means meeting the people of the country, talking to them, understanding them. During our travels, we don't just want to be spectators of folklore shows or craft demonstrations. We help our travelers have a genuine encounter with the locals.
We are out for adventures, but we want our hotels to be clean, safe and cozy. We want you to experience everything in a smooth and at the same time genuine way. That's why we often choose hotels with local charm and rich history. The hotel is not where you "just sleep", but also an oasis for relaxation after an exciting day.
We plant trees in the Attenborough Forest and encourage our travelers to carbon offset their travels by donating to our partner The Perfect World Foundation, to support their important work. We continue to do our small part in the fight to save the planet's biodiversity and keep nature clean.
Supporting local communities is a natural prerequisite for them to maintain their authenticity. By donating to organizations like Stiftelsen Brödet and Meschendorfs Kinder, we are participating in the development of Romanian villages. By working directly with local actors, we can contribute in an effective way.
every trip becomes a FANTASTIC MEMORY FOR LIFE...

Our Dracula expert and Romania enthusiast from Canada, residing in the United States. Dacre is a descendant of author Bram Stoker. As literary genius seems to run in the family, Dacre is a best-selling author of both fiction and non-fiction publications. His research has revealed many interesting details about the iconic Gothic novel Dracula. Dacre leads our travels in the footsteps of the fictional figure Count Dracula, based on a thorough study of his ancestor's work.
Our language talent and certified local guide in Romania, with several years of experience in tour leadership throughout Europe. For Nora, even a walk in the park is almost impossible without her sharing spicy facts about the surroundings. Nora is an experienced cruise director on European waterways, fluent in English, German and Swedish. A walk with Nora can often be rounded off around the fire, with a guitar and a repertoire of happy songs, over a warm glühwein or a cold beer.
Co-founder, salesperson, marketing expert and on the barricades from the very beginning. With his education in economics and his passion for developing businesses, Peter has been an anchor in the development of Experience Transylvania. He was sold on Transylvania himself the first time he visited the area in 2008 and since then you could literally say that he has been "married to the destination". Peter often accompanies the conference trips.
